Cynthia Erivo breaks silence on Ariana Grande's Singapore premiere incident
Grande was attacked by a fan who grabbed her at 'Wicked: For Good' Singapore premiere
Cynthia Erivo once again came forward to defend Ariana Grande following her recent scary fan encounter.
In a conversation at the Saban Media Center Wolf Theatre, the 38-year-old British actress and singer shed light on the obstacles the cast of Wicked: For Good has faced during promotion.
“We have come through some shit. I mean, f*** even this last week, let's be honest,” Erivo said.
She appeared to be referencing the November 13 Singapore premiere incident, when a man named Johnson Wen crossed the barriers and grabbed Grande, prompting her co-stars to step in and protect her.
The attacker has a long history of targeting celebrities at public events, including encounters with Katy Perry, The Weeknd, and The Chainsmokers.
According to the BBC, Wen was charged with being a public nuisance by a Singapore court on November 14.
It is worth noting that Wicked: For Good, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, is slated for release on November 21.
