Timothée Chalamet honours Adam Sandler as true acting legend
Adam Sandler cheers Timothée Chalamet’s talent ahead of new film release
Timothée Chalamet and Adam Sandler came together for an in-depth conversation about their careers and craft inside the Fairfax High School gymnasium in Los Angeles.
During the segment Chalamet openly praised the Grown Ups star as “one of the best fucking actors of all time.”
The special event, titled “Sandler x Chalamet,” was held on November 15 before a full audience.
The two actors revisited scenes from their filmographies, including previews of their upcoming projects, Marty Supreme and Jay Kelly.
After watching a clip from Sandler’s acclaimed performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2006 film Punch Drunk Love, Chalamet shared how deeply the role affected him.
“It is one of the most important performances. It’s impactful, deeply moving,” Chalamet said.
Reflecting on discovering Sandler’s dramatic side, he added, “Wow, this is a fucking incredible actor. I hope I can give a performance like this.”
The Dune actor continued, remarking that Sandler deserved more recognition, “I know it’s not about awards, blah, blah, blah, but you should have a golden man in your hand, because, man, you’re one of the best fucking actors of all time.”
Sandler returned the praise, telling Chalamet, “What you continue to do for cinema and for all of us is beyond it all. I just cannot wait to see what you bring in the future.”
The evening featured clips from Big Daddy, Uncut Gems, Call Me By Your Name, Dune: Part 2 and A Complete Unknown, sneak peeks from both actors’ new films.
The pair also reminisced about SNL, bonded over basketball and guitar, and wrapped the night with a 2-on-2 basketball game with audience members.
Marty Supreme arrives on Christmas Day, while Jay Kelly hits Netflix on December 5.
