Princess Beatrice opens up about her premature delivery

Princess Beatrice opened up about the emotional challenges she experienced when her daughter Athena arrived weeks ahead of schedule.

The 37-year-old royal spoke candidly on the latest episode of The Borne Podcast, released on World Prematurity Day, sharing how isolating the experience can be for mothers preparing for a preterm birth.

Beatrice, who welcomed Athena Elizabeth Rose with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on January 22, revealed she often felt overwhelmed during the pregnancy.

“Sometimes, when you learn your baby’s going to come a bit early, it can be incredibly lonely,” she said, adding that many mothers feel pressure to appear perfect even in difficult circumstances.

As the newest patron of Borne, a charity dedicated to ending premature birth, Beatrice said she hopes her story encourages other women to speak openly about their experiences.

She praised the organization for offering support, research and reassurance to families facing early deliveries.

Looking back on her early delivery, Beatrice admitted she faced “sheer worry” but ultimately felt grateful for the proper medical care and her daughter’s safe arrival.
