Kate Middleton highlights perinatal mental health awareness

The Princess of Wales has lent her voice to a new exhibition spotlighting the often “unseen realities” of mental health in pregnancy and early parenthood.

In a letter shared by the Maternal Mental Health Alliance on Instagram, Kate Middleton praised the MMHA’s photographic show, This Is Also Motherhood, for amplifying the experiences of “ten extraordinary women” and for normalizing frank conversations about perinatal illness.

“As a patron, I welcome the MMHA’s continued work to ensure every family in the UK gets the mental health care and support they need, before, during, and after pregnancy,” the 43-year-old royal wrote, adding that the portraits and letters on display remind us no one should face the perinatal journey alone.

The princess who shares Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis with Prince William called the exhibition a testament to courage and resilience and urged that “every voice has the power to help build a society where love, hope, and compassion are at the heart of everything we do.”

The MMHA said it was “honoured” by her support as it pushes for better services and wider awareness.
