Ariana Grande reveals why she and Cynthia Erivo 'like to touch each other'
Ariana Grande didn’t hesitate from opening up about her undeniable chemistry with her Wicked: For Good co-star Cynthia Erivo on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, on November 18, when she was boldly asked why the two “like to touch each other.”
The 32-year-old singer and actress, playfully told the 54-year-old host that she “channel[s] a lot of energy through [her] hands.”
She noted that she is “always holding a hand, always squeezing something” or “always reaching for something” often with those in close proximity.
The Supernatural hitmaker explained that she and the 38-year-old British actress have put in a lot of effort to maintain their strong bond they formed while playing their iconic characters Glinda and Elphaba in the beloved musical.
"There’s a lot of time that passes between wrapping the film and the press tour happening," Ariana remarked, further adding that from time to time they do try to check in on each other when they can.
"We’re both so busy but do our best to stay connected in that way and to take care of each other so we can honor the project as much as humanly possible," she shared.
The Victorious alum revealed that the affectionate physical gestures she makes are meant “to channel support and energy” to loved ones.
Ariana further said, "I didn’t even notice that was a thing about me until that thing happened,” recalling the viral November 2024 moment with Cynthia when she held the Harriet actress’ finger mid-interview and tapped it.
"I didn’t know what the f*** was going on,” she expressed and went on to describe the moment as "tender and beautiful" adding, "I just wanted to be supportive.”
“It was sweet. It felt beautiful.”
For the unversed, Wicked: For Good is set to hit the theaters on November 21, 2025.
