Actress reacts to unexpected remark from Queen Camilla in awkward moment
Queen Camilla visited South Wales for King Charles' 77th Birthday
An awkward exchange unfolded when Queen Camilla met Gavin & Stacy actress Ruth Jones.
On November 14, the 78-year-old Monarch along with her husband King Charles traveled to South Wales to celebrate his 77th Birthday at Cyfarthfa Castle.
During their visit, the Royal couple met with Welsh celebrities, including the 59-year-old actress.
A Daily Mail reporter managed to document a seemingly awkward moment of the Queen asking Ruth, mid-handshake, "Haven't you lost masses of weight?"
Laughing off the remark, the BAFTA-winning actress politely quipped, "Yes, I have, thank you! I’ve lost a bit of weight!"
The Welsh actress gained national recognition in the U.K. through her work co-writing and starring in Gavin & Stacey alongside James Corden.
The beloved series aired between 2007 and 2010, making a comeback in 2019 and 2024 with Christmas specials.
Ruth became the talking point back in 2011 for drastic weight loss, shedding nearly nearly 60 lbs.
She credited her transformation to "aversion therapy," revealing how hypnotist Paul McKenna trained her to give up chocolate in a 2024 podcast interview.
Talking to Table Manners hosts, singer Jessie Ware and her mother Lennie, Ruth shared, "I hate the word 'struggled' with my weight, but I have been in a battle with my weight all of my life. As long as I can remember. I can't ever remember being slim."
