Jeff Bezos unveils $6.2bn AI venture project Prometheus

Jeff Bezos is officially stepping back into an operational role, unveiling his new artificial intelligence (AI) venture “Prometheus,” a project already making waves in the tech world.

The Amazon co-founder has poured major energy and resources into the initiative, positioning "Prometheus" at the centre of one of the largest early-stage AI investments to date.

The $6.2 billion venture will be co-led by Bezos and scientist Vik Bajaj, previously associated with Google X and Alphabet’s life-sciences division.

Still operating largely in stealth mode, Prometheus aims to build AI systems that learn from real-world interaction.

Around 100 researchers from OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and Meta have already joined, underlining the scale of the company’s ambitions.

Instead of relying solely on internet-trained models, Prometheus plans to create AI that can work directly with machines, experiments, and sensory data, supporting engineers across aerospace, computing, materials science, and automotive fields.

It should be noted that the approach aligns neatly with Bezos’ long-standing interest in space, signaling a new chapter in his technological influence.

As competition intensifies and rivals chase similar “world model” systems, Bezos appears determined to position Prometheus as a future leader in next-generation AI.
