Robert Irwin's perfect ‘DWTS’ score secures top spot in grand finale
Robert Irwin and Witney Carson deliver powerful performance on ‘DWTS’ Prince Night
Robert Irwin has qualified for the grand finale of the American Dancing with the Stars, securing yet another perfect score and dazzling both judges and fans.
The 21-year-old Aussie impressed once again with an energetic jive to Prince’s 1984 classic Baby I’m a Star, finishing the routine with a dramatic flip performed by his partner, Witney Carson.
Judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli rewarded the performance with straight 10s, marking Irwin’s second perfect score of the season.
Tonioli greeted it as a “superstar jive” while Hough admired Irwin’s “incredible” full body movement.
Inaba also commended the young star, calling it a performance deserving of a spot in the grand final.
Irwin said after the dance, “Thank you, I'm over the moon, this means the world, this is changing my life and I'm so grateful.”
Later in the Prince themed episode, Irwin and Carson returned to the floor for a Viennese waltz set to the song Wow.
The pair earned 29 out of 30 which placed them at the top of the leaderboard.
Fans quickly took to social media to share their enthusiasm, many already declaring Robert Irwin the winner ahead of next week’s finale where he will face the challenge of performing three routines.
The pressure will be on for the Wildlife Warrior to win the mirrorball trophy, especially with his sister Bindi Irwin, who won her own season of the show back in 2015.
