Sir Mick Jagger just gave students at his former school a moment they won’t forget.

The Rolling Stones legend made a surprise visit to The Mick Jagger Centre at Dartford Grammar School in Kent, returning to the campus he once walked as a teenager to celebrate the centre’s 25th anniversary.

The rock icon spent the day meeting students and teachers, thanking the staff who continue to “inspire children and young people in their musical careers.”

Jagger opened the performing arts centre in 2000, and it now houses the Dartford Music School and the Dartford Symphony Orchestra.

Speaking to the BBC during his visit, Jagger shared honest advice with young musicians hoping to follow in his footsteps. He urged them to “work really hard and not give up,” while acknowledging that every artist also needs “a lot of luck.”

Reflecting on his own journey, he admitted that “music wasn’t much of a career” when he was growing up.

“That all changed very, very quickly in the early 60s and I got on that bandwagon,” he said.

Returning to the place where his story began felt emotional for the superstar. Jagger said the visit “brings back a lot of memories,” adding that he was happy to see today’s students thriving.
