Prince William opens Rob Burrow MND centre amid emotional reunion
The Prince of Wales spent time with Burrow's family and close friends
Prince William visited Leeds on November 20, where he officially opened the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease, the U.K.’s first purpose-built health center focused completely on MND care, research, education and holistic support in the U.K.
During his visit, the Prince of Wales met with Burrow's family his wife, Lindsey Burrow, and their children Macy, Maya and Jackson, and great friend and fellow rugby player Kevin Sinfield, who has helped generate more than £10 million for MND charities since 2019.
Burrow, a Leeds Rhinos icon, was diagnosed with MND two years after retiring and went on to inspire the nation with his courage and relentless campaigning before his passing away in June 2024.
During his tour, William met staff, researchers, and patients, hearing how the facility plans to advance care and improve quality of life for those affected by the condition.
According to William’s office at Kensington Palace, the center embodies Burrow’s vision, a place where patients and families are truly at the heart of care, offering a calm, welcoming, and fully accessible space for everyone who walks through its doors.
