King Charles hosts Iceland's President Halla for her first official visit at Buckingham Palace
The British monarch welcomes Iceland's president at Buckingham Palace
King Charles has returned to his official duties following a tumultuous month involving his brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
On Thursday, November 20, the British Royal Family shared on their official Instagram account that the President of the Republic of Iceland visited The King at Buckingham Palace.
“This afternoon, The President of the Republic of Iceland visited The King at Buckingham Palace,” the caption read.
The image captured King Charles and Halla Tómasdóttir exchanging handshakes and sharing a friendly greeting.
For the occasion, the monarch chose a black suit, paired with a white shirt and a blue tie.
Meanwhile, the 57-year-old political figure wore a chic navy-blue outfit, featuring a turtleneck layered under a matching coat, paired with a skirt.
It is worth noting that this marks the President of Iceland’s first-ever meeting with King Charles since taking office.
During the visit, President Halla is set to tour the Sustainable Ventures Centre, an innovation hub that supports start-ups developing climate and sustainability solutions, according to the Iceland Review.
Moreover, she will also take part in a public conversation at King’s College London with former Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard, discussing leadership, equality, and climate priorities.
President Halla’s visit highlights Iceland’s interest in strengthening cooperation with the UK, with a focus on climate resilience, innovation, leadership, sustainability, economic development, and economic transformation.
