Benedict Cumberbatch had a surprisingly intense moment with a crow while filming his new movie 'The Thing with Feathers.'

In an interview on Lorraine, the 49-year-old actor said he felt genuinely uneasy during a scene where a trained crow had to hop onto his body and peck food off his chest.

“There was a moment where a crow had to hop on me, and that was quite nerve-wracking,” he shared.

To keep him safe, the crew placed a piece of plastic over his face but that didn’t calm his nerves completely.

“They put a bit of plastic on my face, because he had to hop on my chest and peck at some food on my chest,” he said. “You see them in the flesh and think, ‘Are you going to come and peck my eye out?’”

“Despite all that, they’re extraordinary, magical birds and very, very smart,” he added.

In the upcoming drama, based on Max Porter’s novel "Grief Is the Thing with Feathers", Cumberbatch plays a father trying to rebuild his life after the loss of his wife.
