Tiffany Haddish shared an update on the filming location and production timeline for Girls Trip 2.

While attending the PEOPLE and InStyle Drive-By F1 party in Las Vegas on Friday, November 21, the Bad Boys: Ride or Die star hinted at what fans can look forward to in the highly anticipated sequel to the 2017 film.

The American actress told the outlet, “I don’t know exactly where we’re going, but I know it’s somewhere exotic and somewhere we don’t normally go, but we should go as much as possible, that’s what I do know. We’re supposed to start shooting this summer.”

Moreover, producer Will Packer had previously confirmed that a follow-up to the 2017 hit comedy was in the works and that a script was ready.

Hinting at the possibility of filming near Ghana’s AfroFuture festival, he added, “We actually are looking at doing an exotic locale — I can’t reveal it right now, but I do have a script for the first time.”

Packer also noted that Haddish, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Regina Hall will reprise their roles, while teasing that new friends could join the mix.

He had first mentioned the sequel during a 2022 Good Morning America appearance, saying, “Can’t we all use a post-pandemic trip, my friend? I think that the time is actually right, and this is something that I will tell you and break right now at GMA: the ’Girls Trip’ sequel — we are underway."

“We are absolutely in the stages, the ladies are in, I just talked to the director,” he continued.

At that time, the producer had added that the focus was on deciding “what kind of trip” the friends would take.

The original Girls Trip, directed by Malcolm D. Lee and co-written by Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver, followed four women rekindling their friendship during a New Orleans trip for the Essence Music Festival.
