Elon Musk is urging users to update the X (formerly Twitter) app after a new Grok message alert quietly rolled out this week, changing how posts appear in the “Following” timeline.

The update introduces an AI-powered ranking system in which Grok highlights posts it considers most relevant based on engagement patterns and individual user interests.

Instead of the traditional chronological feed, Grok now pushes curated posts toward the top, marking one of the most significant shifts X has made since Musk acquired the app.

For users who prefer the old setup, the social platform still offers a simple toggle back to a chronological feed using the three-dots menu at the top of the timeline.

The feature comes alongside the launch of the new Grok 4.1 model, which promises sharper reasoning, more reliable accuracy, and fewer instances of the overly flattering responses about Musk that earlier versions were criticised for.

Musk has encouraged users to share feedback directly, saying X’s long-term goal is to rely on a “purely AI-driven algorithm” built around Grok.

As Musk continues pushing X toward deeper AI integration, the latest update underscores his effort to make Grok central to how users navigate the platform.
