'The Summer I Turned Pretty' star reveals dream outcome for couple

Sean Kaufman has revealed what he hopes for his character’s journey in upcoming The Summer I Turned Pretty movie.

Even though the Prime Video series ended after three seasons in September, fans will get one last trip to Cousins Beach in a movie, announced during the season 3 Paris premiere.

The 35-year-old actor noted that questions about the movie’s plot, including a possible wedding between Taylor and Steven, are for showrunner Jenny Han, but he told People about his own theories.

"I think the only thing that I'd be looking forward to, that I'd want, is for the two of them to just finally actually be together," the actor remarked, referring to the on-again off-again relationship on the teen romance show.

Sean hopes the movie will depict the "relationship between the two of them that's not focused on trying to get together or, when they fight, breaking up."

He envisions Steven and Taylor in a place where when the two fight, it won’t mean the end but lead to understanding, not break ups, instead they stay committed to each other and work it out.

"When they fight, it's not the end. It's simply: let's try to work this out because we're trying to be together," Sean stated.
