Jennifer Lopez faces online backlash over new engagement-ring campaign
Jennifer Lopez’s new campaign sparks chatter about her complicated love life
Jennifer Lopez was facing fresh online teasing after debuting a polished new engagement-ring campaign despite her highly publicised relationship history.
According to Radaronline.com, the 56-year-old singer was recently announced as the global face of Turkish jeweller Zen Diamond, rolling out the partnership across the brand’s social platforms.
Lopez, who has received six engagement rings and finalised her divorce from Ben Affleck earlier this year, reportedly earned $10 million for the deal.
A marketing insider familiar with the agreement said, "People immediately started joking she would be seen as a curse on Zen's engagement rings. Who does she think she is being the face of engagement rings with her relationship history? And who is going to buy them?"
Another source added, "Jennifer knew what the blowback would be over this but she seemingly doesn't care. She wanted a campaign that kept her in cash."
The insider also called it "madness to use someone with her history of failed relationships to plug engagement rings without any irony in the adverts, but at the end of the day it was another payday for her. Whoever is behind marketing for Zen Diamond needs sacked!"
The campaign features the Dance Again hitmaker in multiple glamorous looks, from a plunging black dress to a white off the shoulder gown and a ruched pale dress, each styled with diamond rings, chokers, bracelets and earrings.
Zen Diamond chairman Emil Guzelis defended the decision, saying, "Jennifer Lopez is more than an international icon – she represents power, authenticity and timeless beauty."
Jennifer Lopez’s long romantic history includes marriages to Ojani Noa, Cris Judd and Marc Anthony, two engagements to Affleck, and one to her high-school boyfriend, David Cruz.
