King Charles has reintroduced his annual Christmas charity programme, which also supports his conservationist ambitions.

According to The Telegraph, old curtains at the King’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk have “at his suggestion, been transformed into 25 ornate Christmas stockings to be sold to raise money for the King’s Foundation.”

The “12 Days of Christmas auction” will officially launch on Monday, December 1, “giving the public the opportunity to bid on their very own piece of history from the King’s private home”.

While the Dumfries House’s textile scheme, the Sewing Bee, will recycle Sandringham’s curtains into Christmas stockings.

The King’s Foundation will then auction off the festive decorations, saving one, which will be presented to its founder “as a Christmas present from the foundation.”

King Charles’ recycling programme is being initiated for a third consecutive year and will run between December 1 and December 12.
