Fewer things about the royal family’s appearances attracts more interest than their fashion choices and Kate Middleton is often right at the top of the list.

Therefore, her expected appearance at the Windsor state banquet for the upcoming German visit to the UK holds particular significance for royal followers and style aficionados alike.

Headlining the speculation about the Princess of Wales’ look for the dinner is Tatler, reporting about which tiara fans can expect to see her wear next.

Singling out the iconic Lover’s Knot tiara as “a clear favourite”, the British publication stated, “Of Kate Middleton’s 16 tiara moments, the royal has worn the pearl heirloom for 11 of them.”

Historically speaking, the Lover’s Knot is the tiara often associated with Princess Diana, who also had a penchant for the headpiece originally created for Queen Elizabeth’s grandmother, Queen Mary.

“After Queen Mary’s death in 1953, she bequeathed the Lovers’ Knot to her granddaughter, Queen Elizabeth II. After wearing the tiara throughout the 50s, the late Queen is said to have loaned it to Princess Diana as a wedding present in 1981,” added Tatler.

While for the notable occasions when Kate had opted for the Lover’s Knot, the magazine pointed out the welcome of “US President Donald Trump to Buckingham Palace in 2019” and “her first state banquet as the Princess of Wales when the Firm hosted South African president Cyril Ramaphosa in 2022.”

Granted, there are multiple other tiaras in the impressive royal collections of jewels which Kate Middleton may choose to wear. Though the choice will only be confirmed once the state banquet for President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and First Lady Elke Büdenbender is held during their upcoming state visit, on December 3.
