King Charles and Queen Camilla will host President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and First Lady Elke Büdenbender Wednesday, December 3, and Buckingham Palace is looking back at the royal family’s historic relationship with the upcoming guests’ country.

The royal family’s official Instagram shared a new post, highlighting the UK and Germany’s storied partnership over several decades.

In the post celebrating “The Royal Family’s relationship with Germany”, the eight slides included various bits of knowledge and portraits, including another German leader’s state visit to the UK.

The post started things off with a shot featuring Queen Elizabeth and then president, Theodor Heuss, on his 1958 trip. Moving ahead, Charles and Camilla’s own trip to Germany in March 2023 was also highlighted.

For the upcoming visit, one slide on the post revealed, “Windsor Castle will be decorated for Christmas. In St George’s Hall, where the State Banquet takes place, there will be an approximately 25ft Christmas tree on display, decorated with more than 15,000 lights!”

“The King and Queen, accompanied by The Federal President and Ms. Büdenbender, will also attend a reception with charities and organisations from different sectors to highlight the importance of volunteering and its beneficial impact in communities,” it was further stated.

President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and First Lady Elke Büdenbender’s state visit will take place between December 3 and 5, during which the couple is also scheduled to meet Prince William and Kate Middleton.
