Anthropic is reportedly preparing for a massive initial public offerings (IPO) as early as next year as the race with OpenAI intensifies.

According to the Financial Times, the artificial intelligence (AI) startup behind the renowned chatbot Claude AI has tapped Wilson Sonsini, known for handling landmark offerings like Google and LinkedIn, to guide the process.

Led by CEO Dario Amodei, Anthropic is also pursuing a major private fundraising round that could value the company at more than $300 billion, boosted by commitments from Microsoft and Nvidia.

While talks with investment banks have begun, sources described the discussions as preliminary, signalling that the IPO timeline remains uncertain.

Notably, the move places Anthropic in a direct market race with OpenAI, which has also explored a potential public listing.

As both companies scale rapidly, analysts noted that their IPO ambitions will test investor appetite for high-valuation AI firms amid growing warnings of an overheating AI market.

However, Anthropic maintains that no final decision has been made, noting that companies of its size often operate as if they were already public.

That said, the momentum behind a potential Anthropic IPO underscores the startup’s strategy to challenge OpenAI’s dominance, setting up what could become one of the most closely watched tech battles of the year.
