Jenny Han shares major progress update on 'The Summer I Turned Pretty'
The Summer I Turned Pretty creator Jenny Han has shared an update on the progress of the movie with fans.
Months after the release of the third and final season of the series adaptation of the 45-year-old author’s book in September, she has now dropped a major progress update on the highly anticipated movie.
During The Wrap’s 2025 Power Women Summit, Jenny revealed that she had finished writing the script but production was yet to begin.
"I just wrote it," Jenny said regarding the script of the movie which was confirmed right after the series finale.
Despite the progress, she confirmed that the film still won’t be hitting the screens anytime soon.
“I know that everyone was hoping that it was coming out this Christmas," the XO, Kitty creator explained, "but unfortunately, not happening, not possible."
“The show came out in July,” Jenny, who is also set to direct the movie, explained. “So it was really up to the last minute on the show, so that we wouldn’t have had time to film the whole movie.”
