Meghan Markle’s father is currently hospitalised, under intensive care after an emergency surgery in the Philippines, as per his son.

On December 3, Thomas Markle was urgently taken to the hospital after experiencing an illness at home.

After a three hour surgery last Thursday, he now remains under intensive care supervision.

However, he isn’t in the clear just yet as the Duchess of Sussex’s father will need a second procedure to remove a blood clot.

Meghan and her father’s relationship remains complicated as the 81-year-old has been estranged from her daughter since she got married to Prince Harry in 2018.

His son Thomas Jr. shared, “I took dad to a hospital close to our home and they did various scans and the doctors said his life was in imminent danger."

“They raced us by ambulance, with the sirens going, to a much bigger hospital in the centre of the city. My dad has undergone emergency surgery. I would ask everyone around the world to keep him in their thoughts."

Speaking to Mail, Thomas’ daughter Samantha shared that she believes the stress of the past few years had taken its toll, saying, "He is a strong man, but he has been through so much. I am praying that he is strong enough to survive this."

"My father has been through two heart attacks, a stroke and an earthquake. I hope he can pull through this," she said with hope.
