Bill Gates claims AI will redefine global creativity and opportunity

Bill Gates has claimed that artificial intelligence (AI) is set to transform creativity, education, healthcare, and economic development on a global scale.
Speaking at the Doha Forum 2025, Microsoft's co-founder said that the rapid evolution of AI will reshape how societies operate, warning that early adopters will play a decisive role in determining the technology’s future.
He compared its potential impact to major breakthroughs such as microchips and modern medicine, emphasising that what matters most is how nations choose to apply these tools.
According to Bill Gates, younger regions like Africa could play an outsized role in shaping AI-driven innovation.
He said the continent’s youthful population is well-positioned to experiment with new ideas and new forms of creativity.
Gates added that AI is already beginning to change artistic industries, from filmmaking and photography to writing, design, and digital media, and that its creative possibilities remain “open-ended.”
He also predicted that the most advanced foundational AI models will likely continue to come from the US and China, but stressed that accessible, open-source systems will ensure widespread adoption.
Highlighting his foundation’s work, Bill Gates said AI could revolutionise public services in low-income regions by offering virtual medical support through mobile phones.
He also pointed to AI tools that could guide farmers on soil, climate, seeds, and livestock management, arguing that the technology could dramatically expand economic opportunity.
