How a single lunar eclipse may transform royal family’s 2026
Momentous lunar eclipse seals royal family’s future?
The royal family shares a seldom-discussed history with eclipses and this year’s lunar eclipse back in March may have added to that reputation.
Occurring on March 29, the partial eclipse in 2025 was predicted to mark an important transformation in the royal household’s affairs this year and the next.
Writing for her online blog Under the bridge astrology, writer and astrologist Lotta had claimed in January earlier this year that “a lunar eclipse on the 29th of March at 9 degrees Aries” could put everything into motion.
Towards the conclusion of the year, how is the prediction holding up? Let’s explore.
Unpredictable moves
Lotta’s blog entry on January 16 had claimed, “The eclipse on the 29th will oppose Prince William’s Mars from his 3rd house of siblings and the media. His Mars, his inner warrior, is in the 9th house of foreign places and philosophy. Could it mean a clash of views, playing out in the media?”
King Charles’ decision to strip his younger brother, formerly called Prince Andrew, of his royal titles arrived after a notable period of reported discontent between the Prince of Wales and his father regarding the matter.
Various sources and royal experts had claimed that the future monarch held his disgraced uncle’s situation in a far more stern regard than the reigning sovereign — a perspective which played out in real time when he had publicly snubbed Andrew at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral, with Kate Middleton by his side.
“He believes his father has not dealt with him with sufficient firmness and that Andrew — and Sarah Ferguson — have done much to undermine the good work of other members of the Royal Family,” Andrew Lownie wrote in his biography, The Rise and Fall of the Yorks.
The developments only fuelled further speculation that the King’s eldest may take on an even more prominent and refined role at the centre of the monarchy in 2026.
The monarchy’s fate
The blog entry had further claimed, “Astrologers have long predicted that William will be the last King of the UK. Stranger things have happened and we live in turbulent and unpredictable times.”
The fallout from Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s scandal had caused renewed backlash against the British monarchy, with the naysayers deeming it outdated, betraying the common public, and repeatedly calling for its end.
Going into 2026, the Firm’s dynamic with the public has never been more delicate — royal members have significantly increased their communal engagements, preferring thoughtful gestures and enthusiastic chatter to tiaras and tea parties.
“If this is the end of the line for the monarchy as we know it then the beginning of that story will start in 2025 and 2026 with Pluto in the early degrees of Aquarius,” it was further noted.
The eclipsed history
Where the royal family’s history with eclipses is concerned, it is important to note that a good number of them have been connected with it since birth.
According to Constellation Yoga, an online journal dedicated to astrology and meditation, “A trail of eclipses run through the lineage of the British Royal Family – both Prince William and his wife Kate, Princess of Wales, are born exactly on eclipses. King Charles was born shortly after a lunar eclipse, his coronation ceremony on 6 May 2023 was also a lunar eclipse and his first marriage to Diana took place on the day of an eclipse.”
While the blog also shared that a lunar eclipse in birth charts “are thought to give a fated or destined quality to life” — not a surprise when it comes to literal royalty.
However, lunar eclipses in particular have additionally been linked to the fall of monarchs historically, specifically death rather than defeat or ouster.
“In ancient Mesopotamia, a lunar eclipse was considered a direct assault on the king,” The Independent reported. “Given their ability to predict an eclipse with reasonable accuracy, they would put in place a proxy king for its duration.”
