Leonardo DiCaprio has recently joined a list of celebrities sharing their view on the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence in today’s world.

Speaking to Time, which named him Entertainer of the Year in 2025 for One Battle After Another, the 51-year-old actor talked about AI’s role in filmmaking.

Leonardo recognised its potential while emphasising a clear difference between innovation and genuine artistic skills.

With AI becoming more common in creative work, the Titanic actor suggested it may help support emerging storytellers.

“It could be an enhancement tool for a young filmmaker to do something we’ve never seen before,” he said.

However, he also voiced concern about the threats AI poses to professionals whose livelihoods may be impacted, while stressing that the true essence of art continues to be inherently human.

“I think anything that is going to be authentically thought of as art has to come from the human being,” the Inception actor stated.

Toward the end, Leonardo DiCaprio pointed out viral AI-generated musical mashups as examples that impress briefly but lack human essence and soon disappear into "internet junk."
