Hydrogen tech firm chooses Bowling Green for major new project
Leading Hydrogen tech firm has officially chosen Bowling Green for a major new clean-energy project
A leading Hydrogen tech firm has officially chosen Bowling Green for a major new clean-energy project, marking a milestone in Kentucky’s rise within the global hydrogen sector.
The initiative comes from UFS ARK, a collaboration between Netherlands-based United Fiber Sensing and OgMentum ARK, which recently set up its US headquarters in the city.
During its first phase, the firm will develop advanced fiber-optic sensors designed to detect hydrogen leaks in pipelines, fueling stations, and industrial systems, technology that aims to enhance safety as hydrogen adoption accelerates.
Experts have noted that the project highlights how the firm is contributing to the growing hydrogen economy, especially as more industries rely on hydrogen for transportation, storage, and clean manufacturing.
Notably, UFS ARK is also teaming up with Western Kentucky University to train future specialists in hydrogen sensing, fiber optics and advanced manufacturing, ensuring the region builds a skilled workforce for jobs that didn’t exist just a few years ago.
Local officials noted that this collaboration signals long-term economic growth and aligns with Bowling Green’s push toward future-focused industries.
With the UFS ARK set to begin development and manufacturing within the next year, Bowling Green is positioning itself at the centre of the hydrogen innovation wave.
