Yet, Wilke recognised that every brilliant suggestion was essentially another assignment dropped into an already strained system.
When an organisation cannot process incoming work fast enough, these ideas transition from valuable assets into obstructive bottlenecks, creating backlogs and distractions that add no value.
The conversation genuinely stunned Bezos. Wilke, with his deep understanding of operational systems, viewed Amazon as an organism needing proper pacing to function optimally.
