‘One Battle After Another’ triumphs over ‘Hamnet’ and ‘Sinners’ among London Critics’ Awards Nominations
Nominations announced for 46th annual London Critics' Circle Film Awards
The London Critics’ Circle chose to recognise One Battle After Another in more categories than the British story Hamnet, with Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest directorial securing nine nominations for the institute’s awards — the most for any film this year.
Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet emerged as the second most-nominated film for the London Critics’ Circle Film Awards, securing eight nominations, with Sinners ranking third with seven nods to its name.
Here’s a complete breakdown of the films which have scored multiple nominations:
One Battle After Another — nine nominations
Hamnet — eight nominations
Sinners — seven nominations
Marty Supreme — six nominations
Sorry, Baby — five nominations
Sirāt, Sentimental Value, The Mastermind — four nominations
Weapons — three nominations
Train Dreams — two nominations
Jane Crowther, London Critics’ Circle film section chair, described the newly announced nominations as “encouraging” among an age defined by “AI and homogeny”.
“At a time when AI and homogeny seems to be the shorthand answer to everything, it’s encouraging to see the films that our members voted for are teeming with human life, creativity and unique perspectives,” she said. “Boasting bold, vital stories, real experiences and artistry, these movies and their creative teams are evidence that not everything can be made by an algorithm. The LFCC is delighted to be inviting such a diverse group of artists to our awards in February to celebrate their achievements.”
The winners will be announced in London on February 1, 2026. Check out the full list of nominations below:
