Elon Musk maintained a close association with President Donald Trump until their fallout. During that period, the tech billionaire served as the head of Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

In a clear indication that Musk's tenure, though concluded, has not been forgotten, a coalition of House Democrats is scheduled to introduce new legislation.

This proposed bill is specifically aimed at addressing what legislators claim are significant ethical loopholes within federal law concerning special government employees such as Musk.

According to a review of the bill’s text by The Free Press, the legislation would impose a strict limit on funding.

It would prohibit many SGEs and any companies they own or lead from receiving more than $1 million annually in funding from the very government agencies they advise or work for.

Furthermore, the bill mandates the creation of a comprehensive, publicly searchable database of all special government employees.

Currently, no such consolidated or accessible record exists, hindering transparency and public oversight of these influential temporary government positions.

These proposed changes reflect a concerted effort by Democrats to enhance accountability and prevent potential conflicts of interest arising from the use of outside experts in high-level government roles.
