Billie Eilish has spoken out about gun violence, urging action after a weekend marked by multiple mass shootings around the world.
The Grammy-winning singer shared an emotional message on Instagram on Sunday, linking the latest attacks to the anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.
“This is so devastating,” Billie wrote, adding that her heart was with the victims’ families. She encouraged followers to “raise your voice, work for change, & vote out anyone who’s not willing to reform gun policy.”
Her message came following various violence incidents in United States and Australia. In the US, two students were killed and nine others injured during a shooting in a classroom at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. In Brooklyn, New York, six teenagers were wounded when gunmen opened fire outside a venue hosting a birthday party.
In Australia, at least 15 people were killed and many more injured after attackers opened fire at Bondi Beach in Sydney, where members of the Jewish community had gathered to celebrate Hanukkah.
