Blake Lively has faced online criticism after disclosing her expensive holiday gift.
While speaking with Vogue, the 38-year-old actress shared an interesting story about gifting and how she teaches her friends to play Mahjong.
“I have been teaching friends how to play Mahjong, though I need to say I’m not a certified teacher,” explained in a new interview with Vogue.
“But I know enough to teach my friends how to play with me, and in the end, I always end up gifting them my own set because they are obsessed and want to practice.”
The Age of Adalin actress also highlighted that she prefers sets from Oh My Mahjong, where tile collections start at $400, with starter kits climbing up to $640 per Y!entertainment.
Moreover, after the revelation, the actress faced a lot of backlash for buying expensive gifts.
Some commenters suggested she was “buying friendships,” while others pointed out that similar Mahjong sets are widely available at significantly lower prices.
Representatives for Lively have not responded to the backlash.
