Blake Lively’s legal team blasts Justin Baldoni: ‘We will not tolerate such examination’
Blake Lively’s lawyers renew damaging claims against Justin Baldoni and his team
Lawyers representing Blake Lively in her legal battle against Justin Baldoni have filed a new motion for sanctions against the latter and his team, which includes attorney Bryan Freedman.
Recorded on Friday, December 19, the motion accuses Baldoni’s partners of “laughing, speechifying, and engaging in other disruptive behavior during depositions,” per Variety.
Lively’s team also took a strong stand against those questions directed at their client which involve her romantic and sexual history, deeming them “irrelevant to her harassment and retaliation lawsuit against Baldoni and others involved in ‘It Ends With Us.’”
“Ms. Lively’s sexual and/or romantic history has no bearing on the matters at issue in this case and we will not tolerate such examination,” they had previously written to Baldoni’s legal team in September.
While the entertainment news outlet further reported that Lively’s lawyers have newly invoked the “rape shield law”, which prevents victims of sexual assault from being forced to answer questions about their sexual history.
The latest motion was filed when Freedman and his associate counsel Kevin Fritz “impeded and delayed the deposition of Nicole Alexander, who is testifying as a defense expert.”
They additionally accused the two lawyers of an “ongoing pattern of deposition misconduct,” in the lawsuit currently underway between their clients.
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are scheduled to attend a mandatory settlement conference on February 11, while their trial was previously delayed from its original initiation in March to now begin on May 18.
