Miley Cyrus reveals how she landed ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ gig
Miley Cyrus shares the secret way she lands gigs for movie soundtracks
Miley Cyrus has revealed the secret behind her recent gigs on various movie soundtracks, including Avatar: Fire and Ash.
The Grammy winner told PEOPLE that for her Avatar opportunity, she sought out James Cameron at the 2024 D23 Expo.
“I kind of throw it out there as I always do,” she said. “I already knew the answer to, ‘So what have you been up to?’ I know he’s been up to ‘Avatar’ for a very long time.”
While further hinting at Cameron, Cyrus told him, “‘Just lemme know if you ever need any music.’”
However, she continued, “It just kind of organically happened. James actually calls us ‘Legends in law.’”
The singer-songwriter also added that she became part of the Last Showgirl soundtrack the same way — by reaching out to one of its stars, Jamie Lee Curtis.
“I did the same thing to Jamie Lee Curtis,” she said of her Golden Globe-nominated song Beautiful That Way. “That’s how I ended up doing ‘Last Showgirl’ and now being a part of ‘Avatar.’”
“That’s why I went to the Oscars this year. Everybody that came up and introduced themselves, I said, ‘Well, if you need any music, I’m around,’” she admitted.
Dream As One, Miley Cyrus’ song for Avatar: Fire and Ash, is currently up for a Golden Globe as well.
