Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman revealed shocking truth about their latest film Song Sung Blue.

The American actress and actor, who star as real-life couple Claire and Mike Sardina in the newly released film, bring their love of music to the big screen.

The Almost Famous actress and the 57-year-old star spoke warmly about working together during a joint interview with PEOPLE at the 2025 Gotham Awards, where Hudson praised her costar, saying, “His superpower is to connect, whether it’s onstage, whether it’s on set, whether it’s with anyone and everyone.”

The Logan star returned the compliment, sharing that Hudson made him “a better actor” and highlighting her ability to be both “prepared” and “instinctive,” a balance that proved essential as they stepped into unfamiliar roles.

Fans may wonder whether the stars are really singing in the film—and the answer is yes. “We recorded everything, and we sang everything live,”

Hugh Jackman said on The Howard Stern Show in December 2025. “I’ve done two musicals. Les Misérables, where we sang everything live, and The Greatest Showman, where everything was recorded. So this was like a hybrid.”

Kate Hudson echoed the joy of the experience, telling The Kelly Clarkson Show, “It was the best.”

The film, which premiered on Christmas Day, is inspired by the 2008 documentary of the same name that chronicles the band’s early journey and the relationship between Claire and Mike.
