Lawyer for Tyler Perry’s accusers sends out warning: ‘There may be more coming’
Tyler Perry warned against increasing trouble amid two sexual assault lawsuits
Tyler Perry was recently hit with a second lawsuit related to sexual assault and the attorney representing both of the accusers has cautioned the movie mogul against what’s to come.
Jonathan Delshad told The Hollywood Reporter, “There’s now two of these lawsuits. There may be more coming.”
While Alex Spiro, Perry’s lawyer, denied all of the claims while sharing, “I said it before and I will say it again: This is nothing but a $77 million money grab scam.”
Founder of the Tyler Perry Studios was first accused by actor Derek Dixon back in June, alleging “a coercive, sexually exploitative dynamic” alongside sexual harassment, sexual battery, sexual assault, and more.
Whereas the second lawsuit was filed by model Mario Rodriguez, further accusing Perry of a similar conduct “across several years”, per THR.
Following the second suit’s emergence, text messages between Rodriguez and Perry were obtained by multiple publications, displaying a seemingly cordial relationship between the two men.
“I just wanna tell you that your boy right here appreciates you more than anything,” the accuser wrote in one of the texts, after asking Perry for financial aid.
With the actor and filmmaker’s response being, “You don’t have to give me a thing or pay me a thing. I’m just glad you’re good.”
Rodriguez’s lawyer, Delshad defended his client and countered with the question, “Why is he holding himself out as available for favors?”
“That’s the larger context to this. This isn’t normal behavior from a billionaire producer toward an inconsequential actor who had a tiny role in one of his movies,” he added.
Both Mario Rodriguez and Derek Dixon had previously worked with Tyler Perry — Rodriguez appeared in Boo! A Madea Halloween, while Dixon was part of The Oval, a political series directed and produced by Perry.
