Evangeline Lilly has shared her health update that seems serious.

The Ant-Man actress revealed that she suffered a traumatic brain injury following a concussion sustained during a beach accident in Hawaii in May.

In an Instagram video posted Saturday, Lilly said that she fainted and fell face-first into a boulder, leaving her bruised and bloodied.

“The results came back from the scans, and almost every area of my brain is functioning at a decreased capacity,” Lilly said, adding, “So, I do have brain damage from the TBI and possibly other factors going on.”

The 46-year-old actress said that her focus is now on medical clarity and recovery.

“My job is to get to the bottom of that with the doctors and then embark on the hard work of fixing it,” she said, adding, “Which I don’t look forward to, because I feel like hard work is all I do.”

Lilly, whose career spans Lost, Ant-Man, The Hobbit and The Hurt Locker, said that the injury has forced her to slow down a shift she described as unexpectedly grounding.

“My cognitive decline since I smashed my face open has helped me slow down,” she said, adding, “This was the calmest, most restful Christmas I’ve had in maybe 14 years.”

Despite the uncertainty, Lilly struck a note of gratitude.

“I’m feeling extraordinarily grateful and blessed to be able to play one more day, one more year on this beautiful living planet,” Evangeline said.
