Woman ‘slowly slashes boyfriend’s throat’ in gruesome domestic row
Deputies arrived and traced blood spattered across the kitchen floor
A Florida woman told cops her boyfriend slashed his own throat - but blood on her hands and a knife in the kitchen told a different story.
Cathrin Hope Kennedy, 35, called the Marion County Sheriff’s Office early on January 2 claiming her boyfriend had cut his own throat and driven away.
Deputies arrived and traced blood spattered across the kitchen floor, a trail leading through the house, and fresh blood on Kennedy’s right hand, according to investigators, reports Ocala News.
The injured man, whose name has not been released, had driven himself to a nearby hospital.
There, he told deputies that Kennedy, his live-in girlfriend of several months, attacked him during a heated argument in the kitchen.
He said she grabbed a large kitchen knife and deliberately pressed it across his neck. Holding a towel to the wound, he fled the house and sought emergency treatment.
Investigators quickly found gaps in Kennedy’s account. A search of the boyfriend’s car at the hospital turned up no weapon.
Back at the home, officers executed a search warrant and located a large kitchen knife in the sink, reinforcing investigators’ belief that the attack happened indoors.
Kennedy was arrested and booked into Marion County Jail, where she remains held without bond, the sheriff office said.
