Demi Moore opens up about rare personal moment at special screening of ‘Song Sung Blue’
Demi Moore opened up about her early years with Bruce Willis, sharing a rare and personal memory tied to music during a recent public appearance.
While speaking with Kate Hudson during a Q&A at a special screening of Hudson’s latest film, Song Sung Blue, at Soho House in Los Angeles on Wednesday, January 7, the 63-year-old actress explained why the movie holds special meaning for her.
“This is a little personal thing, but Bruce always had every week, Neil Diamond Day,” Moore told the 46-year-old actress, referring to title from Neil Diamond’s 1972 hit of same name.
Hudson stars alongside Hugh Jackman as real-life couple Mike and Claire Sardina, who fronted a Neil Diamond cover band called Lightning & Thunder.
“Watching the movie just kept reminding me of when he would blast Neil Diamond, and I'd say, 'What's going on?’” Moore recalled, adding, “And he said, ‘No, it's Neil Diamond Day.’”
According to the Ghost star, Willis’ tradition was long-lasting. “He played Neil throughout the day. He kept on doing that for years. He was a huge Neil fan. And so am I!”
The Substance actress also praised the film and its cast, saying, “And you know, to your point, the generosity of what this film is, what your performance is, Hugh's, also the kids, I thought were extraordinary.”
Despite their divorce, the former couple have remained close friends as they share three children together.
For the unversed, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis were married on November 21, 1987 and they finalised their divorce in 2000.
