Zach Bryan isn’t sugarcoating heartbreak on his new album With Heaven on Top. Instead, one track in particular is drawing chatter about it being a pointed diss aimed at his ex.

The singer released his sixth studio album on Friday, January 9. Across its 25 tracks, Bryan appears to reflect on his split from ex-girlfriend Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia, his recent sobriety and life with his new wife, Samantha Leonard, reports People.

One of the album’s most pointed moments comes on the track “Skin,” where Bryan delivers stark lyrics that many listeners believe reference his past relationship.

“I’m taking a blade to my own skin / And I ain’t ever touching yours again,” he sings, before questioning betrayal and emotional distance. The song also includes lines accusing an unnamed ex of speaking badly about friends and facing life “stone-cold sober.”

Bryan and LaPaglia, 26, announced their breakup in October 2024. The split quickly turned sour, with LaPaglia later accusing Bryan of emotional abuse and alleging that he offered her $12 million and a house in exchange for her silence about the relationship.
