In an era where artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping education and work, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has shared an optimistic vision of what the future job market could look like.

The OpenAI chief executive has suggested that college graduates in 2035 may pursue highly paid and exciting careers exploring the space.

Altman made the remarks during an interview with video journalist Cleo Abram on her YouTube series Huge If True

He was responding to a thought experiment about how higher education and employment might evolve over the next decade amid rapid advances in artificial intelligence.

According to Altman, future students and researchers could move into exploration-driven roles in space, a sharp contrast to what he described as the relatively routine and boring nature of many jobs today.

He noted that such careers could involve working on missions across the solar system and would be both intellectually rewarding and financially lucrative.

Abram pointed to forecasts suggesting that AI could replace up to half of entry-level white-collar jobs within the next five years.

In response, Altman argued that while short-term disruption is likely, the long-term outlook is far more positive.

He added that AI would not only reshape existing roles but also create entirely new industries and professions.
