Horror in New Jersey: Mother charged in deaths of two children

A New Jersey mother was arrested and charged with two counts of homicide, after two children were discovered dead in their home.

As per the reports by Somerset County Prosecutor Office and Hillsborough Township Police, a woman named Priyatharsini Natarajan, 35, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 14, in relation to the murder of her two sons, who were 5 and 7 years old.

At around 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13, police were sent to a home on Shell Court after a 911 caller had said that two children were unresponsive.

Prosecutors reported that the caller who was the father of the children told the authorities that he had come home after a day of work and found the boys lying insensible in a bedroom.

According to the Somerset County Prosecutor, John P. McDonald, he also said that it was his wife who brought about what had occurred.

Police and emergency employees tried to save lives but both children were declared dead on the spot. Their names are yet to be disclosed as they are awaiting confirmation by the medical examiner.

Natarajan was taken into custody at the house of the family in Brookhaven Lofts community. The officials did not reveal any motive, and the investigation is continuing.
