Tom Brady opens up about divorce and 'tough' final NFL season
The seven-time Super Bowl champion was recently spotted with Alix Earle during a New Year’s Eve party
Tom Brady has reflected on the challenges of his final NFL season, which coincided with his divorce from Gisele Bündchen.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion spoke to MLFootball about his 23rd and last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“My last season was tough,” Brady, 48, admitted. “I was going through, I had a lot of… a personal family issue. And it was a challenge, and it just took a lot out of me in terms of my ability to play.”
Brady permanently retired in 2023 after returning for one last season with the Buccaneers. He previously played 20 seasons with the New England Patriots.
“I had 23 years of football, so I didn’t think I was missing anything retiring,” he said, adding, “I felt like I always had a goal 45. I wanted to spend time with my kids… now it’s time for me to be at all my kids’ games.”
Brady and Bündchen, 45, share two children, Benjamin, 16, and Vivian, 13. Brady also has a son, Jack, 18, with ex Bridget Moynahan.
“I felt like I owed my teammates and coaches to give them everything I had,” he added. “I wish it could have been a little bit better at the end. But it was a unique year for me.”
Despite focusing on work and family, Brady was recently spotted with influencer Alix Earle during a New Year’s Eve party in St. Barths.
