Timothée Chalamet makes Oscar history at 30
The Dune star is heading to the Academy Awards with nine nominations for his film ‘Marty Supreme’
Timothée Chalamet has become the youngest actor since Marlon Brando to receive three Best Actor Oscar nominations.
The 30-year-old earned his third nod for Marty Supreme on January 22, 2026, when the Oscar nominations were announced.
Chalamet also picked up a Best Picture nomination as a producer on Marty Supreme.
Brando had also received three acting nominations by age 30 for A Streetcar Named Desire, Viva Zapata!, and Julius Caesar.
The legendary actor won his first Oscar in 1955 for On the Waterfront and later earned a second for The Godfather in 1973.
Chalamet first earned a Best Actor nomination in 2018 for Call Me by Your Name.
He was also nominated last year for A Complete Unknown, making him the only acting nominee to be recognized in consecutive years.
This year, Chalamet faces off against Leonardo DiCaprio's One Battle After Another, Ethan Hawke's Blue Moon, Michael B. Jordan's Sinners, and Wagner Moura's The Secret Agent.
Marty Supreme received nine nominations in total, while Sinners broke a record with 16, surpassing Titanic, La La Land, and All About Eve.
Chalamet won awards for his Marty Supreme performance at the Critics Choice and Golden Globe Awards earlier this month.
He also won a SAG Award in 2025 for A Complete Unknown, citing Brando as one of his acting inspirations.
