Police hunt for man who abandoned deceased woman at hospital
Georgia police are actively seeking 47-year-old Michael Lee Harrelson
Georgia authorities are in search of a man who is believed to have brought a dead woman to a hospital.
As per the Richmond County Sheriff's Office, Michael Lee Harrelson, aged 47, is sought for questioning "regarding a suspicious death" on Monday (January 19).
According to a report from local source WRDW, Harrelson arrived at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, requesting assistance.
A nurse on duty followed him to find a woman in the car, unresponsive in the passenger seat.
Once the woman was transferred inside, Harrelson allegedly left the area, the outlet noted.
Hospital representatives later confirmed the woman as 41-year-old Selena Johnson from Hephzibah, Ga., approximately 16 miles from Augusta.
According to WRDW, the Richmond County Coroner’s Office identified her through fingerprints. The relationship between Harrelson and Johnson is currently unclear.
The coroner's office informed WRDW and WJBF that Johnson was declared dead at 10:50 p.m. An autopsy is set to ascertain the cause and manner of death.
Officials report that Harrelson has outstanding warrants from unrelated incidents with the sheriff's office, and they are appealing to the public for assistance in finding him.
Court records indicate that Harrelson has not been charged concerning this incident.
He is described as having a height of 5'6", weighing 153 lbs., with brown eyes and a bald head.
