British singer-songwriter Griff has described having Taylor Swift as a career mentor as "insane" and "wild".

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the Warner Music Group Pre-Grammys Party on Thursday, the 25-year-old reflected on her journey from a childhood fan to a hand-picked protégé.

Griff, born Sarah Faith Griffiths, revealed that Swift’s 2008 album Fearless was one of the most influential records of her life.

The two first met at the 2021 BRIT Awards, where Swift offered some vital wisdom: "Make decisions for yourself and don't listen to the noise, and just do what you want to do and need to do."

The "Vertigo" singer likened the 36-year-old superstar to a "fairy godmother" who occasionally appears to champion her work.

This support reached a pinnacle in June 2024 when Griff opened for the Eras Tour in London. Interestingly, the opportunity arose after a chance encounter at a Kendrick Lamar concert, where Swift personally mentioned wanting Griff on her stage.

Beyond music, Griff touched upon the buzz surrounding Swift’s upcoming wedding to Travis Kelce.

When asked if she was excited about the nuptials, Griff exclaimed, "Oh, my God. Who isn't?" While she isn't expecting an invitation, noting she is "happy to watch from the screen," Griff remains "eternally grateful" for the generosity shown by the woman who raised a "whole new generation of artists."
