Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit appeared to mock a royal wedding as “boring” during correspondence with Jeffrey Epstein.

The U.S. Department of Justice has released approximately three million documents connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, with emails involving the Norwegian royal among the documents now made public.

One email exchange from October 2012 shows the Norwegian royal, now 52, responding to Epstein after he enquired about a wedding she had attended.

"Boring wedding. Was like some kind of old movie. Where you know the characters are not hanging around for much long[er]," the Crown Princess wrote on 21 October 2012.

Additional emails touched upon her family life and a visit she made to Epstein’s Florida residence. The files also revealed discussions about what was described as Epstein's attempts at "wife hunting."

On Friday, the Norwegian royal released a statement addressing her interactions with the disgraced financier. Speaking to Norwegian broadcaster NRK, she said she distanced herself from her former association with Epstein and expressed remorse.

A spokesperson for the princess told GB News: "Jeffrey Epstein is responsible for his actions. I must take responsibility for not checking Epstein's background better and for not understanding quickly enough what kind of person he was. I deeply regret that, and this is a responsibility I must take. I showed poor judgment and regret ever having any contact with Epstein. It is simply embarrassing. I wish to express my deep sympathy and solidarity with the victims of the abuse committed by Jeffrey Epstein."
