Paris prosecutors raid French office of Elon Musk's X
French authorities are conducting a search of Elon Musk's X offices in Paris
The French branch of Elon Musk's X (formerly Twitter) is undergoing a police raid, as reported by the Paris prosecutor's office.
This investigation is conducted by a cybercrime division linked to a case initiated in January 2025, as stated by the Paris prosecutor's office in an X post on Tuesday.
In February 2025, the prosecutor's office launched an investigation into X regarding allegations that Elon Musk tampered with the platform's algorithm. It remains uncertain if this concerns the current investigation.
xAI — which acquired X in March 2025 before merging into Musk's SpaceX this week — hasn't given an immediate comment on the matter.
The raid adds another issue to X's growing list of challenges in Europe. The platform has received significant criticism recently from political figures and regulatory bodies over the dissemination of sexual content produced by Grok, xAI's chatbot.
Recently, the European Union began an investigation regarding illegal content spread, including potential child sexual abuse material, produced by Grok on X.
The UK's media regulator disclosed a related investigation in January.
Last month, X stated that it had enacted technical solutions to prevent Grok from altering real people's images into more suggestive attire.
In December 2025, the EU fined X $140 million in relation to the platform's controversial blue checkmark program, which the union claimed exposed users to scams.
