A woman from Massachusetts is now facing a range of charges after allegedly claiming to be a doctor and carrying out plastic surgery that resulted in lasting scars for the victim.

According to accusations, 34-year-old Dingrui Wang from Newton, Massachusetts, performed a double eyelid surgery on a 22-year-old woman in Allston, Mass., in January 2020, as per a press statement released by the office of Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin R. Hayden.

Wang, not holding a Massachusetts medical license, allegedly pretended to be a licensed doctor.

Hayden's statement claims Wang administered a local anesthetic and unauthorised dermal fillers to the victim's eyelids, resulting in lasting damage.

Wang purportedly completed one eyelid's surgery before the victim tried to escape, but was forcibly restrained by Wang until the entire procedure ended, leading to significant pain, according to the press release.

The district attorney's office further contends that Wang falsely asserted having cosmetology, massage therapist, and hair salon licenses on a loan form submitted to the American Lending Center, which resulted in obtaining a $37,379 loan despite those licenses being inactive.

Wang is confronting four charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, one charge of causing serious injury through assault and battery with a dangerous object, one count of kidnapping, and two counts of substantial theft by trickery.

She also faces accusations of practicing medicine without authority, unlawfully claiming a physician's title, and accepting payment for surgery based on false claims, per Hayden's office.

She was formally charged by a Suffolk grand jury on Thursday (January 29), with her arraignment set for Thursday (February 5).
