Just before 7am on January 25, 2019, Elizabeth Barraza, 29, was organising a garage sale outside her residence in Tomball, Texas, which she shared with her spouse, Sergio.

Around that moment, a 2013 or newer model, four-door black Nissan Frontier PRO-4X, reportedly drove past their home, made a U-turn, and parked near their house, according to authorities.

A person of slight build, reportedly wearing a long wig or having long hair, dressed in a trench coat with boots, exited the vehicle and approached Barraza, standing in her driveway.

Barraza greeted the person with a "good morning" before they retrieved a firearm.

As per police reports, they exchanged a few words briefly before Barraza suffered four gunshots.

“From what her parents told me, the way she said, 'good morning,' they felt like she did not know that person who was walking up the driveway,” Harris County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Michael Ritchie tells PEOPLE. “You hear her clearly say, 'good morning.' Then you hear some garbled stuff for seven, eight seconds. And then you hear the first shot, and you hear her screaming, and then you hear the next three shots.”

“After she fell to the driveway, the shooter approached her, stood over, and fired another shot to complete the task,” he added. “This was pure execution.”

The suspect drove away but soon returned momentarily, passing by Barraza as she lay dying.

Seven years down the line, despite offering a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the suspect's capture and conviction, the case remains unresolved, and Barraza's family still seeks justice.

On her day off from her data reporting job at a pipeline inspection company, as PEOPLE previously covered, Barraza was organising the garage sale.

She aimed to earn some additional funds for a planned journey with Sergio to Universal Studios' Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Florida, to celebrate their fifth anniversary the next week.
