Drug-fueled rage: Man kills wife while children sleep
Paul Knight received life sentence for murder of his wife, Isobella 'Izzy' Knight
A man has received a life sentence for murdering his wife in their England home.
Paul Knight, aged 36, was charged with the strangulation of his wife Isobella "Izzy" Knight on June 13, 2025, while their two daughters were asleep upstairs at their residence on Donnington Road, Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, as per a police press release.
"You allowed your anger to control you and, in a moment of fury, ended Isobella Knight's life,” stated Judge Adrienne Lucking during the sentencing, the BBC noted. "I am unable to issue any sentence that could bring comfort or solace to your children or Isobella Knight's family."
The reason behind the crime was unclear, "other than that [Knight] erupted in anger under the influence of a substantial amount of cocaine," stated Prosecutor Pavlos Panayi at the hearing, according to the outlet.
Following the murder, Knight reportedly attempted to take his own life at their home before crashing his car in a McDonald's parking area.
“The officers responding to the crash found his actions peculiar and opted to search his home address,” as stated in the press release. “Tragically, that's where they discovered Izzy’s body.”
Within the residence, police also allegedly discovered a suicide note that said: “If you've found this, it means I have ended my life and Izzy's. I truly didn't intend to kill her. I'm genuinely sorry, but my actions stem from a cocaine addiction and financial troubles,” the release indicates.
Knight confessed to his guilt at Northampton Crown Court on January 8, 2026.
He received his sentence on January 29, consisting of life imprisonment with a minimum of 17 years to be served behind bars.
